What’s East Asian integrative medicine?

East Asia medicine is a family of traditional healing systems that developed over thousands of years in China, Korea, and Japan. It includes well known practices such as Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Moxibustion (warming therapy using mugwort), cupping, TuiNa (therapeutic massage), and QiGong (therapeutic movement and breathing practice).

At its core, East Asian Medicine is built on several philosophical frameworks:

  • Yin Yang Theory: a way of understanding balance, opposites, and dynamic change of the body
  • Five Element Theory: a system that links organs systems, emotions, seasons, and environmental influences to understand the body
  • Vital substances: Qi, Blood, and Body Fluids must circulate smoothly in the body for health
  • Meridians or Acupuncture Channels: These are the pathways through which Qi flows, forming the basis for acupuncture and acupressure

At Cúram Clinic, we integrate a multitude of therapies to create bespoke treatments, unique to each individual. In addition to Chinese Medicine (acupuncture, cupping, tuina, and moxibustion) Cúram clinic incorporates naturopathic nutritional and herbal therapies along with acupuncture, and as a complementary or alternative support to your medical care. Cúram clinic works along GPs with a holistic approach. Every appointment, we assess and treat the whole body and the mind. We treat the symptoms and the root cause of whatever illness or condition you have.

Our standards of care at Cúram clinic are amongst the highest in Dublin. Our acupuncturist are members of AFPA, the most prestigious professional association. Additionally, we are registered with all private insurances in Ireland for up to 70% reimbursement depending on your coverage. At Cúram clinic you can feel truly in safe hands!

East Asian Medicine has grown steadily in the U.S. ove the past several decades. It is now widely used both as a complementary therapy and as part of integrative healthcare settings.

  • Acupuncture is the most widely recognized modality in the U.S., and it is used for pain, stress, digestive issues, sleep concerns and more–often as a complement to conventional care.
  • Chinese Herbal medicine is increasingly integrated in the care of many conditions and very highly regulated for safety. Herbalist typically spend many years in graduate school learning about it and must pass a rigorous board exam overseen by the medical health associations.
  • Bodywork and movement practices like cupping, guasha, tuina, and qigong are often used for musculoskeletal issues, circulation and stress reduction.

East Asian medicine is increasingly found in hospitals, cancer centers, pain management programs, veterans’ health systems and fertility centers, reflecting a broader trend toward combining traditional and biomedical approaches.

Chinese Medicine – Acupuncture

At Cúram Acupuncture we believe that to alleviate the symptoms (branches) we must find the cause of origin (root). That’s the reason why we use multiple assessment techniques, including listening to your experience extensively. We believe nothing is random, and everything is relevant.

We use a modern, regulated and integrative approach where EA medicine is used to support wellness, complement conventional care and help patients manage a wide range of conditions. We love helping patients regain power over their health and lifestyle!
